Intel Corporation announced two leadership appointments on Monday. Alex Katouzian will join Intel as executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing and Physical AI Group. In this role, he will align the company’s client computing business with physical AI systems that include robotics, autonomous machines, and other AI devices.
Katouzian joins from Qualcomm Technologies, where he most recently served as executive vice president and group general manager of mobile, compute, and extended reality (XR). He will begin at Intel in May.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan stated that AI is creating opportunities at the edge and driving changes in client computing and physical AI systems. Tan noted Katouzian’s technical expertise, operational discipline, and experience building global compute platforms.
Katouzian said Intel is creating the foundation for AI-driven transformation, including AI PCs, scaling AI inference at the edge, and physical AI systems. He expressed that he is joining at a critical moment to help scale innovation and deliver next-generation computing experiences.
Separately, Intel appointed Pushkar Ranade as chief technology officer, moving from an interim role. As CTO, Ranade will advance the company’s technology strategy, lead special technology projects, and drive development in quantum computing, neuromorphic computing, photonics, and novel materials.
Ranade will continue serving as chief of staff to the CEO to maintain alignment between technology strategy and business priorities. Both Katouzian and Ranade will report directly to CEO Lip-Bu Tan.
