Toshiba Begins Mass Production of TXZ+ M4L Group Microcontrollers for Single-Motor Control
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has started mass production of its TXZ+ Family Entry-Class M4L Group, a lineup of compact microcontrollers built around an Arm Cortex-M4 core with a floating-point unit (FPU), designed for next-generation home appliances, consumer products, and industrial equipment.
Demand continues to grow for greater energy efficiency, more compact designs, IoT connectivity, and improved maintainability across home appliances, consumer electronics, and industrial equipment. Meeting these needs requires motor-control microcontrollers that combine high-precision control with features that improve development efficiency and system reliability.
Toshiba's new microcontrollers are purpose-built for single-motor control applications, integrating dedicated motor-control hardware, security functions, and functional safety measures on a single chip. By offloading motor-control processing to dedicated hardware, the devices reduce CPU load, enabling more efficient and precise motor control.
The microcontrollers are built around an Arm Cortex-M4 core with FPU and operate at frequencies up to 80MHz. They support a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, offering compatibility with existing 3V- and 5V-based systems while giving designers greater flexibility for new designs.
