On June 5, 2025, SEMI announced in its Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics (WWSEMS) Report that global semiconductor equipment billings reached $32.05 billion in the first quarter of 2025, a 21% increase year-over-year. The report noted a 5% quarter-over-quarter decline, consistent with typical seasonal trends.
Ajit Manocha, SEMI President and CEO, stated that the growth reflects investments in chipmaking capacity driven by demand for AI and fab expansions. He also mentioned that SEMI is engaging with governments to address geopolitical tensions, tariff volatility, and export controls to support fab investments and advanced manufacturing.
The WWSEMS Report, compiled from data provided by SEMI and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan, summarizes monthly billings for the global semiconductor equipment industry.
