GlobalFoundries, a major semiconductor manufacturer, has selected Redpanda, a provider of real-time data and AI agent infrastructure, as a key partner in its digital transformation efforts. Together, the two companies are building a unified real-time data platform meant to connect GlobalFoundries' manufacturing, engineering, and business systems, while also supporting a new wave of AI-driven tools across the company's global workforce. Redpanda engineers are working directly alongside GlobalFoundries teams to modernize core digital manufacturing systems, aiming to improve visibility, responsiveness, and overall operational efficiency. As part of the rollout, the Redpanda Data Platform is replacing GlobalFoundries' older change-data-capture infrastructure, the systems previously used to track and relay updates from databases, to stream equipment, process, and scientific data directly from its manufacturing facilities.

The platform lets GlobalFoundries bring together data from equipment, process control systems, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing operations into a single unified environment. By giving the company a consistent, real-time view across its operations, this setup is meant to help GlobalFoundries monitor manufacturing processes more effectively, support faster decision-making, and scale its digital capabilities across its global network of fabrication plants. Some of the company's most critical, "tier-0" systems are already running in production on the platform, with broader deployment continuing across GlobalFoundries' global operations.

Vishal Mehra, senior vice president and chief information officer at GlobalFoundries, said semiconductor manufacturing depends on trusted, real-time access to operational data, and that the company continues investing in the digital infrastructure needed to support increasingly complex manufacturing operations. He said working with Redpanda is helping the company build modern, scalable data infrastructure that improves operational visibility and speeds up decision-making at a global scale, positioning GlobalFoundries for its next phase of digital manufacturing as it continues expanding real-time, data-driven capabilities across its manufacturing network.

Using Redpanda's Agentic Data Plane, a system designed to let AI agents access and act on real-time data, GlobalFoundries is building a set of AI agents aimed at driving automation, generating insights, and improving operational efficiency across areas including IT and procurement, with plans to expand this adoption further as it integrates real-time data more deeply into everyday processes and business workflows.

Alex Gallego, founder and CEO of Redpanda, said GlobalFoundries is transforming itself for a world increasingly built around streaming data, AI, and autonomous agents, which means applying the same governance, confidentiality, and access control standards semiconductor manufacturing has always required, but adapted for a world where AI agents, not just people, are using that data in real time. He said the same data platform currently streaming data from GlobalFoundries' fabs now also powers the AI agents its teams are building on a daily basis.
