Himax Technologies, announced that its HX85200 series on-cell OLED touch controller IC has entered mass production in the first quarter of 2026.

The IC has been adopted by multiple leading global IT brands and is being designed into high-end OLED laptop PCs. It integrates differential signal processing circuitry and advanced algorithms to provide accurate multi-finger capacitive touch performance across various OLED panel architectures, including rigid, flexible, and hybrid types.

OLED panels, being thinner with more complex structures than LCDs, are more prone to interference. The HX85200 suppresses background display noise from flexible and hybrid panels, captures fingertip touch signals accurately, and reduces touch-related interference to maintain stable display performance.

The series offers two configurations: a 138-channel version for 13- to 16-inch laptop PC displays, supporting high-precision multi-touch with wide sensing range, and a 118-channel version for tablet devices, compatible with USI and MPP active stylus protocols for precise, low-latency pen input.

Ming-Cheng Chiu, Executive Vice President of Touch and Display Business Unit at Himax, stated that as high-end IT devices adopt OLED technology, demand increases for superior visual quality and intuitive interaction. Integration of touch and display becomes critical amid thinner, more complex OLED structures.
