Skyworks announced the release of its SKY63104/5/6 family of jitter attenuating clocks and the SKY62101 ultra-low jitter clock generator. These devices, based on Skyworks’ fifth-generation DSPLL and MultiSynth technologies, support any-frequency, any-output clock generation and single-IC clock tree solutions for networking, data center, and industrial applications.
The SKY63104/5/6 family and SKY62101 are the first clock devices capable of simultaneously generating Ethernet and PCI Express (PCIe) spread spectrum clocks with 18fs RMS phase jitter for 224G PAM4 Ethernet SerDes and standards-compliant PCIe clocks (Gen 1/2/3/4/5/6). Outputs can be configured independently for Ethernet, PCIe, or general-purpose clocking, supporting applications such as optical and Ethernet networking equipment, edge/core routers, switches, OTN equipment, data center spine and leaf switches, top-of-rack switches, SmartNIC cards, AI accelerators, medical imaging, test and measurement, audio/video broadcast systems, and satellite communications.
The devices feature 12 outputs in an 8x8mm QFN package with wettable flanks for improved assembly reliability. They support a frequency output range from 8kHz to 3.2GHz and multiple output formats, including LVDS, HCSL, LVPECL, LVCMOS, S-LVDS, and CML. Output-to-output skew is ±50ps, with output delay adjustments in 50ps steps. The devices also support optional spread-spectrum clock generation for EMI reduction in PCIe applications.
These products enable complex clock tree designs with minimal components, simplifying design and reducing time to market. Configuration is supported through Skyworks’ ClockBuilder Pro software. The devices offer hitless switching with phase transients as low as 35ps and comply with ITU-T G.8262 Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) Options 1 and 2, ITU-T G.812 Type III and IV, ITU-T G.813 Option 1, and Telcordia GR-1244 and GR-253 (Stratum-3/3E) standards.
