According to Canalys, now part of Omdia, Mainland China’s PC market, excluding tablets, grew 12% year-on-year in Q1 2025, reaching 8.9 million units shipped. Tablet shipments increased 19%, totaling 8.7 million units. Government subsidies supported consumer demand, driving device upgrades. The PC market is projected to remain flat in 2025, with 6% growth expected in 2026. The tablet market is forecast to grow 5% in 2025 but decline 8% in 2026.
In Q1 2025, consumer PC demand, boosted by subsidies, led to 20% growth in notebook shipments. Commercial PC procurement showed mixed results: large enterprise demand remained unchanged, while the small and medium business (SMB) segment grew 2% after 11 quarters of decline. Consumer-focused Chinese vendors, including iSoftStone, Huawei, HONOR, and Xiaomi, reported growth, gaining market share from Lenovo, HP, and Dell. Huawei’s May 2025 announcement of HarmonyOS PCs may impact the market, though consumer and developer adoption remains uncertain.
The tablet market benefited from subsidies, with domestic smartphone vendors gaining share over international competitors. Vendors are expanding tablet offerings for gaming, productivity, and high-end models with OLED displays. The SMB and public sectors are expected to grow 4% and 1%, respectively, in 2025, driven by increased IT investment and government PC refresh plans
