PM Modi Inaugurates Param Pragya AI Supercomputing Facility at Sonipat Campus
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi as the Chief Guest on 8 August. He addressed over 3,000 graduating students, including 587 Ph.D. scholars who received their degrees.
Modi presented the institute’s highest honours to meritorious students. These included the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and Perfect Ten Gold Medals.
He inaugurated Param Pragya, an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility at the institute’s Sonipat campus. The facility is intended to enhance the institute’s capabilities in artificial intelligence, data science, advanced computing, and interdisciplinary research.
Harish Salve, Chairperson of IIT Delhi’s Board of Governors, and Institute Director Prof. Rangan Banerjee felicitated the Prime Minister and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi during the ceremony.
In his address, Modi said the convocation marked the beginning of a new journey for the students. He noted that their families were proud of their achievements and stated that he was also proud of them. While congratulating the medal winners, he observed that there should have been more women among them.
