The Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (ESE) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has announced a Final Semester Project Internship Programme for final-year B.Tech and M.Tech students, scheduled from January 15 to May 15, 2026.
The programme involves full-time placement in an ESE laboratory, where participants work on defined research or technology projects. Research areas include quantum technologies and quantum information, semiconductor and nanoelectronic devices, VLSI and hardware systems, healthcare technologies, communications, signal processing, and systems research.
Students can apply the internship work toward their final semester project requirements at their home institutions, in accordance with those institutions' rules. The programme is open to students regardless of whether they have an assigned final-year project; applications are accepted from those already engaged in a project, with options for continuation, extension, or integration.
The initiative includes two application tracks: an open drive for all eligible students, and a special diversity-focused drive for candidates from SC/ST, OBC-NCL, EWS categories, the North-East, and other underprivileged regions. For the special drive, selected participants receive a βΉ10,000 monthly stipend and 3AC train travel reimbursement. Stipend support is available for a majority of participants in the open drive as well. Stipends from both tracks are provided in addition to any existing stipends from home institutions.
The programme also facilitates interaction with faculty and research groups, with a focus on understanding research processes and informing decisions about PhD programmes at IISc (ESE) or elsewhere in India or abroad. Prior research publications are not required; selection emphasizes motivation, seriousness, and willingness to learn.
