Synopsys marked 30 years of operations in India by opening a new research and development facility in Bengaluru. The inauguration at Bagmane Capital was attended by Synopsys president and CEO Sassine Ghazi and executive chair and founder Dr. Aart de Geus. The 455,000-square-foot facility supports advanced R&D in electronic design automation (EDA), semiconductor IP, verification, and system design solutions for global and regional customers.
Synopsys began operations in India in 1995 with an R&D center in Bengaluru, followed by a field organization in 1997. Currently, about one-third of its global workforce is based in India, primarily in engineering roles across seven cities, including offices from the recently acquired Ansys. The company collaborates with over 100 global and regional organizations, including semiconductor design centers, AI startups, and regional design and manufacturing firms, to support innovation in semiconductor manufacturing, automotive, AI, and computing.
The milestone follows Synopsys’ acquisition of Ansys in July 2025, expanding its market to $31 billion by integrating simulation and analysis with EDA solutions. This enables engineers in semiconductors, automotive, aerospace, industrial, and healthcare to innovate faster and reduce time-to-market. The first combined solutions are expected in the first half of 2026. The new Bengaluru facility underscores Synopsys’ commitment to supporting India’s semiconductor industry and fostering innovation through its expanded capabilities.
