The collaboration combines on-device AI for immediate responses with cloud connectivity for evolving capabilities, allowing automakers to create conversational, personalized AI agents for navigation, media, entertainment, and vehicle controls. The integration of Google’s Automotive AI Agent with Snapdragon Digital Chassis provides a reference architecture and prebuilt capabilities to reduce development times. This hybrid approach supports on-device and cloud-based inferencing, using Gemini and other models to enable branded, interactive experiences with multi-modal, multi-lingual, and multi-intent functionalities.

The platform is designed to evolve with advancements in Google’s Gemini models, ensuring automakers can leverage ongoing improvements in agentic AI. It supports Qualcomm’s full automotive portfolio, offering tools for automakers to build and deploy customized AI experiences that remain up-to-date via continuous updates.

Building on a partnership that began in 2016 with the first embedded Android experience powered by Snapdragon, the collaboration has grown to include AI-enabled cockpit systems with voice control and navigation, as well as efforts to scale Android Automotive OS updates. This joint effort focuses on transforming vehicles into connected, intelligent environments by integrating Snapdragon Digital Chassis with Google’s operating systems and cloud services.
