TrendForce's latest investigation reveals a significant surge in global OLED monitor shipments, which reached a record high of approximately 507,000 units in the first quarter of 2025. This marks an impressive 175% year-over-year increase, driven by strong demand for 27-inch UHD models. Shipments are expected to continue their upward trajectory, with projections indicating a rise to 650,000 units in the second quarter and a full-year forecast of 2.58 million units, up 81% YoY. This growth is set to elevate OLED's penetration rate in the overall monitor market to 2%.
Samsung retained its top position in the OLED monitor market in 1Q25, capturing over 22% market share. The company's flagship 49-inch models were particularly successful, accounting for 40% of its OLED monitor shipments. As the 27-inch UHD model gains traction in 2Q25, it is expected to become Samsung’s best-selling OLED monitor size.
ASUS made a significant leap from fourth to second place, narrowing the gap with Samsung to less than one percentage point. The company led in monthly shipments in both February and March, thanks to its heavy investment in OLED monitor development and innovative products such as portable dual-screen monitors.
MSI secured third place with a 14% market share, driven by its aggressive 2024 strategy of expanding into new sales channels and launching multiple OLED models. This strategy resulted in a leading 63% YoY growth in overall monitor shipments and a 36-fold increase in OLED monitor shipments last year. MSI's strong performance in high-end OLED models also contributed to a 69% YoY increase in gaming monitor shipments, the highest growth rate in the industry.
LG Electronics ranked fourth with a 13% market share in 1Q25. The launch of its 45-inch WUHD model boosted the share of that screen size to 25% of its OLED lineup. However, without plans to release a 27-inch UHD model, LGE is expected to fall behind its competitors in shipment volume in the coming quarters.
Dell, with an 11% share, temporarily slipped to fifth place. However, the launch of a 27-inch UHD model in 1Q25, along with a new 31.5-inch 120 Hz monitor aimed at the business segment, is expected to boost shipments in 2Q25. These models could help Dell regain the fourth or even third spot in the OLED monitor market rankings.
