GlobalFoundries has opened its Advanced Facilities Control Centre (AFCC), an AI-enabled command centre developed with Siemens to integrate facilities operations and data across GF’s global manufacturing footprint, starting at its Singapore campus. The first phase will combine five fab-specific control centres across the campus into one command centre.

The AFCC combines facilities data and operational metrics with advanced monitoring and visualisation tools and AI-driven capabilities, including predictive maintenance, to help teams accelerate troubleshooting, identify root causes more quickly, detect emerging issues earlier and prioritise the highest-impact actions.

Autonomous robots equipped with thermal imaging, gas detection, vibration acoustics and other anomaly-sensing capabilities conduct routine patrols and visual inspections on the fab floor and campus. They transmit real-time data to the AFCC for analysis and response, connecting on-site sensing with centralised monitoring.

Upon full global deployment, the capability will integrate more than 1 million critical data points from facilities equipment across GF’s global manufacturing network. The company said the data will support benchmarking operational metrics across sites to optimise performance and enhance manufacturing sustainability. With 24/7 equipment health monitoring, teams can identify potential issues earlier, reduce unplanned downtime and respond faster; the centralised model is also intended to optimise space, equipment and workforce resources while reducing duplicated infrastructure, energy consumption and associated emissions.

“Reliable facilities infrastructure is foundational to semiconductor manufacturing, and the AFCC represents an important step in building a more connected, intelligent and resilient global manufacturing network,” said Pradip Singh, Chief Manufacturing Officer at GlobalFoundries. “By bringing greater consistency, visibility and intelligence to our critical facilities infrastructure, we are paving the way for smarter, more sustainable operations across our global network and strengthening the foundation that enables GF’s manufacturing excellence.”
