Emerson has announced a 50% expansion of its test and measurement research and development facility in Bangalore, strengthening the site's capacity to help customers manage growing product and validation complexity through more intelligent, software-defined approaches to testing.
The facility functions as Emerson's NI Software Center of Excellence and is the company's second-largest test and measurement R&D center worldwide. Engineering teams based in Bangalore develop and support key test software platforms, AI-enabled capabilities, systems engineering technologies, and RF test software, serving global customers across semiconductor, aerospace and defense, transportation, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, and research and academic sectors. The expansion further advances the site's evolution from what was originally a global capability center into a full global test and measurement innovation center with worldwide product responsibility.
Ritu Favre, president of Emerson's Test & Measurement business, said Bangalore plays an increasingly strategic role in the company's global test innovation network. She said the site combines deep expertise in test software and AI-enabled engineering and validation technologies with close connections to rapidly evolving industries, and that this investment helps customers manage growing product complexity, streamline validation, and bring new innovations to market faster.
As test systems become increasingly software-driven and AI-enabled, engineers face pressure to validate more complex products within shorter development timelines. The expanded Bangalore hub will provide additional capacity to advance automated validation workflows, AI-enabled test engineering, and integrated test and measurement platforms for customers worldwide.
India's continued growth in semiconductors, electric mobility, and aerospace and defense is also driving demand for more sophisticated testing and validation capabilities. Market development tied to initiatives such as the India Semiconductor Mission and the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan is creating opportunities for companies developing, manufacturing, and validating new technologies. Emerson says it's responding to these evolving market needs by expanding its test and measurement R&D capabilities and strengthening its connections to customers and engineering talent in India.
Emerson operates two test and measurement locations in Bangalore: the R&D center itself, and a second site that provides application engineering, calibration, sales, and customer support. Together, the two locations connect global technology development with local market expertise.
