DB HiTek, a South Korean 8-inch pure-play semiconductor foundry, has announced it will participate in electronica India 2026, taking place September 16-18 in Bengaluru. The company aims to strengthen ties with local customers and expand its presence in the Indian market.
electronica India, held in Bengaluru, often referred to as India's "Silicon Valley," is South Asia's leading trade fair covering electronic components, systems, applications, and related technology. At the event, DB HiTek plans to showcase its key manufacturing processes, including its flagship BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process, a technology that combines different transistor types on a single chip for power management applications, alongside its next-generation silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) power semiconductor technologies. The company also plans to pursue new business relationships with local fabless chip design companies, meaning companies that design chips but outsource manufacturing to foundries like DB HiTek.
The move comes as India's semiconductor industry continues expanding rapidly, supported by strong government policy backing and active investment. Local companies that built their businesses around chip design services are increasingly moving into developing their own semiconductor products, a shift expected to drive greater demand for foundry manufacturing services. In response, DB HiTek has been deepening its collaboration with Indian fabless firms and plans to use the exhibition to broaden its outreach to potential customers.
At the event, DB HiTek will emphasize its power semiconductor process technology, an area where it has built a strong competitive position. Its flagship BCD process has reached cumulative shipments of 9 million wafers, and the company is drawing on that extensive manufacturing experience to expand into higher-value applications in the automotive and industrial sectors.
On next-generation power semiconductors, DB HiTek will present updates on its SiC and GaN process development along with its roadmap toward volume production. The company recently completed process qualification for its 1,200V SiC MOSFET and plans to finish qualification for its 650V GaN process by December this year. Product performance testing using these processes is currently underway with strategic customers.
DB HiTek will also showcase a range of specialized process technologies, including X-ray sensing, global shutter, single photon avalanche diode (SPAD), and other specialty CMOS image sensor (CIS) technologies, along with mixed-signal and RF process technology, aimed at further expanding its customer base in the region.
A DB HiTek representative said India is a market where the rapid growth of local fabless companies and the broader semiconductor ecosystem is creating new business opportunities, adding that through participation in electronica India, the company aims to strengthen engagement with local customers and continue identifying new opportunities based on its strengths in power semiconductors and specialty processes.
