Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has added the TCKE1401NM, an 80V-rated electronic fuse (eFuse IC), to its lineup of eFuse ICs with multiple built-in power line protection functions. Shipments start today, August 20, 2026.
The new product uses the VQFN24D package, described by Toshiba as an industry-leading small package for 80V-rated eFuse ICs according to its August 2026 survey. It is intended to support safety in power line protection circuits and reduced PCB size for industrial equipment.
Adoption of 48V power systems is advancing in servers, network equipment, factory automation equipment, robots, and other industrial equipment due to demand for higher output power and improved efficiency. This requires power line protection circuits with high voltage tolerances and multiple protection functions.
An eFuse IC is a semiconductor fuse that protects downstream circuits from abnormal current, abnormal voltage, and other fault conditions. In addition to the short-circuit protection provided by conventional physical fuses such as glass tube fuses and chip current fuses, it integrates overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, reverse current blocking, input reverse polarity protection, and thermal shutdown into a single chip.

The TCKE1401NM has an 80V rating and supports an operating voltage range from 4.7V to 75V. It can be used for power line protection in 24V, 48V, and 54V systems. It has a low On-resistance (RON) of 44.5mΩ (typ.). The package measures 4.0×4.0mm (typ.) with a maximum thickness of 0.9mm.
Main protection functions include current limiting that controls output current if overcurrent occurs, and output shutdown that turns off output in the event of overvoltage. Operating thresholds for both functions can be set with external resistors. It also provides true reverse current blocking and reverse-connection protection, which use external MOSFETs, to protect the IC and downstream circuits.
Additional features include a FLAG function that outputs a signal to notify an external circuit when an abnormal condition is detected, a power-good function that outputs a signal when output voltage reaches a specified value, and an output current monitor function. The thermal shutdown function turns off the eFuse IC when an unexpected short circuit or abnormal heat generation occurs. Recovery from abnormal conditions can be set to auto-retry, in which the eFuse IC recovers automatically, or latch-off, in which recovery is triggered by an external signal.
Applications include industrial equipment such as servers, network equipment, factory automation equipment, robots, and multifunction printers, as well as consumer equipment such as power tools and home appliances.
