MediaTek announced its collaboration with TSMC to develop a chip using TSMC’s N2P process, a 2nm technology featuring a nanosheet transistor structure. The chipset, MediaTek’s flagship system-on-chip (SoC), has been taped out, with volume production scheduled for late 2026. This partnership marks a continuation of MediaTek and TSMC’s collaboration to deliver chipsets for applications in mobile, compute, automotive, and data center sectors.
The N2P process, an evolution of TSMC’s 2nm family, offers up to 18% higher performance at the same power, 36% lower power consumption at the same speed, and a 1.2x increase in logic density compared to the N3E process. MediaTek’s first chipset utilizing this technology is expected to be available in late 2026, supporting a range of devices and applications from edge to cloud computing.
