Keysight Technologies, Inc., in collaboration with NTT Corporation and NTT Innovative Devices Corporation, achieved a data rate of 280 Gbps in the 300 GHz band, surpassing the previous record of 240 Gbps. The milestone was reached using Keysight’s Vector Component Analyzer, based on the N524XB series PNA-X Microwave Network Analyzers, alongside NTT and NTT Innovative Devices’ J-band Indium Phosphide-based power amplifier. Digital predistortion techniques were applied to reduce amplifier non-linearities and ensure signal integrity.
The test demonstrated the amplifier’s performance, with a saturated power level of +9.1 dBm and a data rate of 280 Gbps (35 GBaud 256QAM) at 0 dBm output, marking the highest reported data rate in the 300 GHz band. This supports the development of 6G technologies, which require wide bandwidths for high-speed wireless communication and radar sensing in applications like AI and autonomous driving.
The results will be presented at the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2025 on June 19, 2025, at 10:10 am in room 211 at the Moscone Center, San Francisco. Documentation of the record was published in IEEE Xplore on May 6, 2025.
