GlobalFoundries will manufacture RF chips designed by Fermionic Design Pvt Ltd. Fermionic Design is a Bangalore-based fabless semiconductor company specializing in RF chipsets for Radar, Satellite Communications, and 5G Phased Array Applications.
The company was founded in 2020 by industry experts with experience in leading semiconductor multinationals and successful Indian startups. It is backed by leading Indian investors and was among the first cohort of Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) program applicants. Fermionic Design has been approved for financial support under the DLI scheme and is part of an early cohort of companies supported under the government’s Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme.
The RF chips designed by Fermionic Design will be the first semiconductors designed by an Indian company to be manufactured by GlobalFoundries.
Fermionic Design’s expertise spans RF Design, High-Performance Mixed-Signal Architectures and High-Speed Data Interfaces. Its IP portfolio includes a 32Gbps NRZ SERDES for PCIe 5.0, USB 4, and DisplayPort 2.0 applications.
Fermionic Design makes RF Beamformers, RF Front End Modules, low-dropout regulators (LDOs), crystal oscillator (XO) drivers, and 32-bit ARM M0+ Low-Power Mixed-Signal MCU. It also offers silicon IP such as multi-protocol SERDES, silicon-proven Integer and Fractional-N PLL IP, high performance Analog, CLK-System, SMPS and SERDES IPs.
The company provides silicon solutions for industries across telecommunications, aerospace, automotive, and defense. It has a team of engineers and a focus on first-pass silicon success.
