Ready, Steady, Grow: Inside Tata Electronics' Race to Build India's Only High-Volume Logic Fab

Three days at Yashobhoomi confirmed what India's semiconductor watchers had suspected for months that  Tata Electronics is no longer just building a factory in Gujarat. It is stitching together the supply chain, the equipment partners and the workforce that will decide whether India's first commercial logic fab actually ships chips on schedule.

Of the 56 MoUs and strategic announcements signed across the three days of SEMICON India 2026, Tata Electronics alone accounted for 16 more than any other single company at the event. That volume was not incidental. It reflects a company trying to lock down, in one week, the hundreds of specialised relationships a 300mm logic fab needs before it can run at volume: photoresists, ultra-pure chemicals, lead-frames, advanced packaging tools, wafer manufacturing know-how and trained engineers.
Dholera and Jagiroad: the two anchors
Tata Electronics is building India's first commercial semiconductor fab at Dholera, Gujarat, and the country's first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility at Jagiroad, Assam, together representing a combined investment of roughly USD 14 billion.
