Seoul Semiconductor gets the tag of “High-Tech Enterprise” certification in Vietnam under the country’s Law on High Technology. The certification is awarded to companies that meet strict benchmarks in innovation, R&D investment, and high-tech product revenue. It recognizes Seoul Semiconductor’s intellectual property base of over 15,000 independent patents and its position in the global optoelectronics market.
The company’s Vietnam unit, VINA, contributed to this achievement. The facility was built with a cumulative investment of approximately $800 million and employs nearly 3,000 people, of whom about 700 work in research and development. It functions as an integrated manufacturing hub producing optoelectronic components, including UV, RGB, infrared, and laser diodes, with a production capacity exceeding 4 billion units per month.
Seoul Semiconductor has invested about 10% of its annual revenue in R&D for nearly three decades. The company operates a fully integrated production system covering chip manufacturing, packaging, and module development. Its global facilities are located in South Korea, Vietnam, the United States, and China, supporting a stable and flexible supply chain.
The certification provides tax incentives, land rental advantages, and administrative support from the Vietnamese government. It is expected to strengthen the company’s operational base in Vietnam.
Other major firms, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, LG Electronics, and LG Display, have also received similar recognition in Vietnam.
Seoul Semiconductor stated it will continue to expand its presence in the country, viewing Vietnam as a key manufacturing base while advancing its work in optoelectronics to strengthen its global market position.
