Valeo inaugurated a new manufacturing line dedicated to electric powertrain systems at its Pune plant on March 28, 2026. The inauguration took place in the presence of Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, and Xavier Dupont, Valeo Power Division CEO.
Valeo has been selected by Mahindra to supply the electric powertrain for its new Born Electric platform. The Pune facility will produce the highly integrated 3-in-1 e-Axle, which combines the motor, inverter, and reducer into a single compact system. The e-Axle is developed and manufactured in India and uses the latest iteration of Valeo’s motor technology.

The new line features advanced manufacturing capabilities, including automated lines for U-Pin or Hairpin winding stator assembly, reducer assembly, inverter manufacturing, and final e-Axle assembly. These lines incorporate advanced automation, precision assembly processes, rigorous quality control systems, full digitalization, and end-to-end traceability.
Xavier Dupont, Valeo Power CEO, stated that India is a key region in Valeo’s ‘Elevate 2028’ strategic plan. The investments in Pune support deeper localization of advanced technologies in India and strengthen the ability to deliver these technologies to customers while contributing to India’s transition toward safer and more sustainable mobility.
Jayakumar G, President of Valeo India, said the inauguration marks an important milestone in Valeo’s journey in India. The new e-Axle manufacturing line reflects the company’s commitment to bringing advanced technology solutions closer to customers and contributes to the growth of India’s EV ecosystem. The line will support production for Mahindra’s Born Electric Vehicles.
The facility is located at Valeo’s Pune plant in Lonikand.
