Japan based semiconductor and electronics component maker ROHM and Surat based OSAT service provider Suchi Semicon established a strategic partnership focused on semiconductor manufacturing in India, targeting both domestic and global markets.
The collaboration combines ROHM’s expertise in device technology and its position in the global semiconductor industry with Suchi Semicon’s manufacturing capabilities and operational execution. The companies intend to develop a reliable and scalable back-end manufacturing framework that meets industry requirements.
The partnership aligns with India’s “Make in India” initiative by expanding local semiconductor manufacturing capabilities while adhering to global manufacturing standards. It seeks to improve supply chain resilience and deliver trusted manufacturing solutions to customers.
ROHM is evaluating the outsourcing of back-end processes for power devices and IC products to Suchi Semicon. Technical evaluations are underway, with potential mass production shipments starting in 2026. The companies aim to establish an initial manufacturing framework in India that supports anticipated industry growth in the coming years.

The partners plan to share a roadmap for expanding the range of locally manufactured packages, which would broaden the collaboration scope.
The agreement extends beyond manufacturing. Both companies plan to pursue new business development opportunities to address demand for locally produced semiconductors in the Indian market across various sectors. They will also conduct joint marketing initiatives, utilizing Suchi Semicon’s local marketing expertise to increase visibility and customer engagement.
The alliance is described as a foundation for a long-term relationship, with commitments to explore additional cooperation areas. The partnership supports the development of India’s semiconductor industry, particularly in assembly, testing, and packaging ecosystems, in addition to fabrication facilities.
