EE Times has released the 25th edition of its annual Silicon 100 list, identifying 100 startups in the global electronics and semiconductor industries. The 2025 list includes 41 new entries and 59 returning startups from the previous year, covering sectors such as data center AI, edge AI, photonic acceleration, quantum computing, semiconductor manufacturing, EDA and design services, analog and mixed-signal circuits, AI processors and IP, security, memory, optical communications, MEMS, sensors, displays, LiDAR, radar, RF, IoT, power semiconductors, and power management.
Peter Clarke, the technology journalist curating the Silicon 100 since 2004, noted a decline in AI-focused startups and an increase in those engaged in quantum computing. He also highlighted emerging unconventional computing approaches as potential future trends. Cyrus Krohn, vice president and global publisher of AspenCore, stated that the selection process considers technology, intended market, financial position, investment profile, maturity, and executive leadership.
The Silicon 100 examines market relevance, geopolitical influences, and startup resilience in a polarized global economy.
