Raphe mPhibr, an Indian aircraft manufacturing company specializing in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has implemented Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to streamline its design and manufacturing processes. The platform, which integrates design, simulation, and collaboration, has reduced the company’s prototype development time, notably shortening the engine development process from years to three months.
Raphe mPhibr designs and manufactures all components, including metals, composites, and electronics, in-house. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform has enabled the company to integrate physics and design for manufacturing within the design phase, supporting the development of next-generation UAVs with improved strength-to-weight performance and increased payload capacity. For its 4kW 2-stroke engine, the platform facilitated a weight reduction of 700 grams and supported a shift to 3D-centric design, allowing for the creation of complex composite parts and high-performance aerodynamic surfaces through an integrated design and simulation workflow.
Vikash Mishra, Chairman of Raphe mPhibr, stated that the platform supports the design of drones with 20,000 to 30,000 parts, enabling organic design approaches inspired by natural systems. David Ziegler, Vice President of Aerospace and Defense Industry at Dassault Systèmes, noted that the platform provides a single environment for design, simulation, and collaboration, supporting Raphe mPhibr’s in-house design efforts.
Raphe mPhibr recently secured $100 million in funding led by General Catalyst, marking the largest private funding round for an Indian aircraft manufacturer. The company employs over 500 people and holds more than 100 unique intellectual property assets. Its products have been used by India’s security forces, covering over one million kilometers. Raphe mPhibr plans to expand its workforce, research, development, and manufacturing facilities, and utilize virtual twin experiences for lifecycle management.
