Navitas Semiconductor announced a partnership with BrightLoop to integrate its automotive-qualified Gen 3 ‘Fast’ SiC (G3F) MOSFETs into BrightLoop’s hydrogen fuel-cell chargers for heavy-duty agricultural transportation equipment.
BrightLoop’s chargers, featuring power conversion efficiencies over 98% and power density up to 35 kW/kg and 60 kW/L, use high-voltage, high-power multiverters with Power Flow Processor technology for AC and DC applications, including energy management for fuel cells, heavy-duty applications, and high-voltage network adaptation. Navitas’ G3F SiC MOSFETs are incorporated into BrightLoop’s 250 kW HV-DC/DC converter, delivering 950VDC at 480A, with the capability to parallel for megawatt power.
The G3F SiC MOSFETs utilize Navitas’ trench-assisted planar technology, which supports high-speed, cool-running operation with up to 25°C lower case temperatures and up to three times longer life compared to other SiC products. The technology provides low RDS(ON) increase with temperature, resulting in up to 20% lower RDS(ON) at high temperatures, 100%-tested avalanche capability, 30% longer short-circuit withstand time, and tight threshold voltage distributions for paralleling.
Gene Sheridan, CEO and co-founder of Navitas, stated that the partnership supports high-power density and reliability in converter solutions. Florent Liffran, CEO and founder of BrightLoop, noted that Navitas’ SiC technology enables their multiverters to deliver energy efficiently to customers.
