Qualcomm Appoints Sergio Buniac EVP, Mobile Compute & Personal AI

Qualcomm  announced the appointment of Sergio Buniac as executive vice president and group general manager of Mobile, Compute and Personal AI, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., effective September 2. 

In this role, Buniac will oversee the smartphone, personal computing, smart wearables and XR businesses, including a new generation of AI devices. He will report directly to Cristiano Amon, president and chief executive officer of Qualcomm Incorporated.

“Sergio is a proven business leader with more than 30 years of experience in the mobile industry,” said Amon. “He has a strong record of driving innovation, transforming and growing businesses, and leading through significant industry transitions. Sergio also brings expertise in building compelling consumer devices from design to commercialization, globally. We are pleased to have Sergio join Qualcomm and he will be instrumental as we expand experiences powered by Snapdragon® platforms in the age of agentic AI.”

Buniac joins Qualcomm following more than three decades at Motorola, where he served in a range of regional and worldwide leadership roles spanning strategy, product, sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain. Since 2018, Buniac was the President of Motorola Devices.
