RISC-V International has named Andrea Gallo as its new CEO, effective immediately. Gallo, who joined as Vice President of Technology in June 2024, has led technical initiatives and collaborated with global RISC-V members to advance the RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA). The organization will soon recruit a new Vice President of Technology.
The RISC-V International Board of Directors conducted a thorough search, evaluating internal and external candidates, and selected Gallo for his leadership and technical expertise. Todd Moore, who served as Interim CEO while also holding the role of SVP of Community Operations at The Linux Foundation, will continue supporting RISC-V International through his Linux Foundation position.
Gallo aims to enhance the RISC-V developer experience by expanding technical and educational resources, ratifying new extensions and specifications, launching a certification program, and improving access to RISC-V boards globally. In collaboration with the RISE Project, RISC-V International is developing compilers, toolchains, system libraries, kernels, virtualization, programming languages, Linux distribution integration, and tools for debugging, profiling, and AI/ML.
Before RISC-V International, Gallo held leadership roles at Linaro for over a decade, building its server engineering team and managing various engineering groups and membership strategies. He previously worked at STMicroelectronics, optimizing hardware-software architectures for smartphone and telecommunication ICs, and served on the board of CHAOSS, a Linux Foundation project. Gallo holds a telecommunications degree and is fluent in French, Italian, and English.
Gallo is the keynote speaker at the ongoing RISC-V Summit Europe in Paris, May 12-15, 2025. The event includes three days of keynotes, presentations, and panels, a day of tutorials and working group meetings, and an expo with nearly 40 exhibitors.
