Rapidus, a new advanced chip foundry taken birth in Japan in year 2022 has teamed up with  Quest Global, an India based engineering design services  provider, to push forward 2nm technology for AI chips. Announced on March 25, 2025, in Tokyo, this strategic partnership positions Rapidus as Quest Global’s new foundry partner. Quest Global’s customers will now tap into Rapidus’ 2nm gate-all-around (GAA) manufacturing process to create low-power, high-performance AI semiconductors.

The collaboration meets the AI industry’s shift from general-purpose chips to specialized designs that cut power use and boost efficiency. Rapidus’ Rapid and Unified Manufacturing Service (RUMS) model will speed up the process from design to production, slashing time-to-market. Together, they’re building a virtual integrated device manufacturer (IDM) model, offering fabless AI companies a seamless solution.

Ajit Prabhu, Quest Global’s CEO, called it a game-changer for AI chip development, while Rapidus CEO Dr. Atsuyoshi Koike highlighted the boost from Quest Global’s customer network and feedback. This partnership is set to drive innovation in the fast-evolving AI semiconductor space.

Rapidus was established  with the support of eight major Japanese companies: Denso, Kioxia, MUFG Bank, NEC, NTT, SoftBank, Sony, and Toyota aiming to serve the most advanced semiconductor chip fabrication market.  Quest Global  provides complete turnkey silicon engineering, custom SoC, and ASIC services, particularly focusing on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) design and verification for various industries, including automotive, communications, and AI.
