Kneron and Sinar Mas have deepened their strategic partnership to develop AI infrastructure and accelerate commercialization in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, combining Kneron's NPU technology with Sinar Mas' business ecosystem.
As AI moves from large-scale GPU training toward inference and real-world deployment, demand is growing for computing that provides high performance with lower energy consumption, reduced costs and greater data privacy. Kneron says its NPU architectures are designed for efficient AI inference, with a portfolio ranging from individual AI processors to Edge AI servers and enterprise-scale infrastructure.

The companies will explore opportunities in intelligent manufacturing, financial services, telecommunications, smart infrastructure, retail automation and enterprise AI. They also plan to explore Sovereign AI infrastructure to support regional demand for secure, energy-efficient and locally controlled computing. The companies say locally processing more AI workloads can reduce computing costs, improve responsiveness, strengthen data privacy and support more sustainable deployment.
Dr. Albert Liu, founder and CEO of Kneron, said: “The first chapter of AI was about building increasingly powerful models. The next chapter is about making AI work efficiently in the real world.” With Indonesia as an initial strategic market, the companies aim to build a foundation for expanding Edge AI, Enterprise AI and Sovereign AI capabilities across Southeast Asia.
