Intel Foundry has made the Intel 14A process design kit (PDK) 0.9 generally available, giving foundry customers a silicon-validated environment for designing products on the Intel 14A process node. The release is a milestone on the path to PDK 1.0 and high-volume manufacturing readiness.

A PDK brings together models, design rules and supporting materials that electronic design automation (EDA) tools use to help customers develop products for a specific manufacturing process. Its revisions also mark stages of technology development and align Intel’s work with that of EDA and IP partners and customer design teams.

Intel 14A builds on PowerDirect backside power delivery and RibbonFET 2 gate-all-around transistor technology, with Turbo Cells giving designers flexibility to optimize performance and efficiency. The node also incorporates manufacturing and development learning from Intel 18A, alongside increased investment in inline detection, modeling and simulation to identify issues earlier.

Ben Sell, corporate vice president and general manager leading front-end technology development for Intel Foundry, said the PDK 0.9 gives customers confidence to design on Intel 14A, supported by silicon-backed validation as the technology reaches the performance and yield maturity expected at this stage of development.

Intel is working with EDA providers including Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens and Keysight, as well as IP partners, to develop and validate the design platform. The next major milestone, Intel 14A PDK 1.0, is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
