SPARK Microsystems, a Canadian fabless semiconductor company specializing in next-generation short-range wireless communications, has announced a collaboration with SteelSeries, the original esports brand that fuses gaming and culture, to take wireless gaming mouse performance to a new level. The announcement was made from Montreal. SPARK's Low Energy Ultra-Wideband (LE-UWB) is the exclusive connectivity platform for SteelSeries' new Sensei Pro and Rival Pro Series, the world's first LE-UWB-powered mouse portfolio to move away from legacy 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth LE, and wired connectivity.
The new mice use LE-UWB to achieve strong results across three critical metrics: latency, connection reliability, and power efficiency for long battery life. They deliver True 8K wireless polling at 8,000 Hz, which corresponds to a 0.125 ms polling interval, with up to 9,000 Hz over-polling for even more frequent wireless updates. LE-UWB provides the high-performance wireless link behind this responsiveness while keeping operation reliable in congested 2.4 GHz environments.
Ultra-Wideband operates on a fast spectrum tier with roughly 20 times the bandwidth, and the 8,000 Hz report rate of True 8K polling results in faster response times, more accurate tracking, reduced input delay, and smoother cursor movement. To make the most of 8K over LE-UWB, the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro Series mice include SteelSeries Infinite Power System, which uses hot-swappable batteries for uninterrupted gameplay, described as "8K all day."
Fares Mubarak, CEO of SPARK Microsystems, said conventional wireless connectivity compromises the performance metrics that matter most to competitive gamers, and that LE-UWB is the next evolution. He explained that SteelSeries worked with SPARK to deliver an industry-leading innovation and premium products that exceed gamers expectations, calling it powerful validation that a generational transformation is underway in gaming connectivity.
