Nexeon, a developer of silicon-based anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, has announced that its production facility in Gunsan, South Korea, has achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, the internationally recognized standard for quality management systems.
The certification marks an important milestone in the development of Nexeon's Gunsan operation and reinforces the company's commitment to consistently delivering high-quality silicon-carbon materials to major battery cell manufacturers and automotive customers.
The Gunsan facility is Nexeon's first commercial-scale production plant, having been declared production-ready in December 2025. It's designed for volume manufacturing of Nexeon's advanced silicon-carbon anode materials, supporting the company's growing pipeline of global OEM and battery manufacturer customers.
ISO 9001 certification confirms that the Gunsan operation has established and implemented a comprehensive quality management system covering key areas including manufacturing, quality control, process management, and continuous improvement. For customers, it provides confidence that Nexeon has the systems and processes in place to maintain consistent product quality as it scales up production.
Dr. Scott Brown, CEO of Nexeon, said achieving ISO 9001 certification at Gunsan is an important step as the company moves from commissioning its first commercial production facility to supplying customers at scale. He said quality and consistency are fundamental to the company's ability to support leading battery and automotive companies, and that this certification demonstrates the strength of the systems Nexeon has put in place to deliver on that.
The Gunsan facility benefits from a strategically positioned supply chain, including direct access to monosilane, a key precursor chemical used in Nexeon's silicon-carbon materials. Its location also puts it close to major Asian battery manufacturers, supporting efficient integration into established battery supply chains.
The plant has been designed to let Nexeon expand capacity by systematically adding more reactors as customer demand grows, giving the company a scalable platform to move toward high-volume production and supporting its position as a global supplier of silicon-based anode materials.
Nexeon continues to work through customer production qualification programs under strict automotive quality standards, and the company says the ISO 9001 certification provides a strong foundation for this next phase of commercialization.
