u-blox announced the launch of the u-blox F11 platform, an L1/L5 dual-band standard-precision GNSS platform. The platform achieves power consumption as low as 7 mW in typical configurations using Low Energy Accurate Positioning (LEAP) mode, targeting tracking and wearable applications.

It combines ultra-low power operation with intelligent signal management for meter-level GNSS positioning in applications including tracking, wearables, telematics, micromobility solutions, drones, and industrial use cases. The F11 platform features a situationally aware GNSS architecture with integrated geofencing and indoor detections that dynamically balances accuracy and power consumption by selectively using dual-band L1/L5 operation when it improves positioning performance.

Compared to previous generations, it delivers up to 40% lower power consumption during signal acquisition, up to 30% lower power consumption in continuous tracking modes, and up to 30% improved position accuracy in challenging environments such as dense urban areas.

For long-life tracking applications including assets, livestock, pets, and people, optimized first-fix performance reduces GNSS on-time to support multi-year battery operation.

The platform supports both single-band and dual-band operation within a single footprint for design simplification and scalability across market segments.

Asset and fleet tracking
Consumer and fitness wearables
Aftermarket telematics
Livestock tracking
People/pet tracking
Industrial sensing and IoT
Micromobility and mobility services
Consumer drones and action cameras

It offers form factor compatibility and firmware upgradeability for future-proof designs. Stefania Sesia, Head of Business Unit Standard Precision and Low Power GNSS at u-blox, stated that the F11 platform adapts intelligently to real-world conditions to provide reliable meter-level positioning with power efficiency for high-volume tracking and wearable applications. The u-blox F11 platform will be showcased at Embedded World 2026. First products will be available by the end of June 2026.
