Donut Lab presented its all-solid-state Donut Battery at CES 2026, describing it as the first solid-state battery ready for OEM vehicle manufacturing and scalable to major production volumes.

The battery will power all 2026 models of Verge Motorcycles, including the TS Pro and Ultra, with vehicles scheduled for delivery in Q1 2026. Verge Motorcycles equipped with the battery can charge in less than 10 minutes, adding up to 60 kilometers of range per minute of charging, and the long-range version provides 600 kilometers on a single charge. Orders for these models are available now.

The battery offers 400 Wh/kg energy density, full charging in five minutes without restriction to 80%, and support for repeated full discharge. It shows minimal capacity fade, with a design life of up to 100,000 cycles. Safety features include no flammable liquid electrolytes, no thermal runaway, and no metallic dendrites. Testing indicates over 99% capacity retention at –30°C and above 100°C, with no ignition or degradation.

The battery uses abundant, affordable materials without rare elements and costs less than lithium-ion batteries. It supports custom sizes, voltages, and geometries for structural integration, such as in drone bodies or vehicle chassis. Applications extend to microelectronics, defense, drones, supercharging infrastructure, data center energy storage, and grid balancing.

Donut Lab CEO Marko Lehtimäki stated that the company delayed announcement until the battery was tested, validated, and operating in vehicles.

Previously, Donut Lab introduced the Donut Motor at CES 2025, an in-wheel motor now integrated by over 200 OEMs.

Partnerships include:
- WATT Electric Vehicles, developing an ultra-lightweight modular EV platform with aluminum skateboard architecture integrating Donut Motors, inverters, software, and batteries; a functional version debuts at CES 2026.
- Cova Power Smart Trailer, a joint venture with Ahola Group using Donut in-wheel motors, batteries, and platform software, achieving up to 54% reduction in diesel consumption and 30% in total energy use.
- ESOX Group, deploying the battery in defense platforms, including a four-wheel tactical buggy and drone platform.
