QuickLogic has introduced Aurora PRO, an updated version of its Aurora FPGA design tool. The tool integrates Synopsys Synplify FPGA synthesis to improve resource utilization and maximum frequency (Fmax) for eFPGA designs.
Aurora PRO builds on the Aurora Software Tool Suite, incorporating Synopsys Synplify FPGA synthesis optimized for QuickLogic’s eFPGA architecture. This integration results in up to 50% better resource utilization, with customer designs achieving over 96% LUT utilization, and an average frequency increase of up to 10% for eFPGA designs. These improvements enable smaller silicon footprints, reduced power consumption, and faster timing closure.
The tool is tailored to QuickLogic’s eFPGA architecture, with optimizations for embedded carry chains, BRAM, and DSP blocks, reducing critical path delays and supporting design convergence. Aurora PRO also features a redesigned user interface within the Aurora GUI, allowing engineers to manage area and timing trade-offs and iterate designs more efficiently.
Tarachand Pagarani, director of engineering at QuickLogic, stated that Aurora PRO’s integration of Synopsys Synplify® supports design workflows by providing area and timing optimizations, enabling engineers to enhance performance and efficiency in QuickLogic’s eFPGA technology.
