HARMAN International announced the asset acquisition of Cipia, a provider of driver and occupancy monitoring systems (DMS and OMS) for the automotive industry. The acquisition expands HARMAN’s in-cabin experience portfolio and builds on prior collaboration between the companies on sensing technologies.
Cipia’s edge-based computer vision and AI technologies are integrated into HARMAN’s Ready Care product, which measures visual and cognitive driver load in real time. The acquisition allows HARMAN to further incorporate Cipia’s capabilities into its automotive products to develop intelligent sensing features focused on personalization, safety, and responsiveness for automakers.
Huibert Verhoeven, SVP of HARMAN’s Intelligent Cockpit SBU, stated that the acquisition enhances HARMAN’s ability to provide scalable sensing solutions to global automakers. Yehuda Holtzman, CEO of Cipia, noted that HARMAN’s global scale supports Cipia’s solutions, aiming to advance mobility where vehicles respond to occupants’ needs.
The acquisition supports HARMAN’s plans to accelerate its in-cabin sensing development and increase market reach. Cipia’s aftermarket business will remain with Cipia. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, where applicable.
