Yole group releases automotive white paper highlighting semiconductor trends and Chinese OEM growth

Yole Group has published its first Automotive White Paper, Volume 1, as part of its 2025 White Paper Collection, focusing on the role of semiconductors in the automotive industry. The report examines industry trends, innovations, challenges, and future developments.
The white paper notes that Chinese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are experiencing double-digit year-over-year growth in most global regions, driven by consistent policy support and vertical integration, including at the semiconductor level with modules and silicon carbide (SiC). The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) industry is identified as a hub for innovation and manufacturing, influencing global market acceleration and supporting the rise of domestic automotive companies across the supply chain.
In advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), cameras are projected to reach an 87% penetration rate by 2029. The LiDAR market shipped 1.6 million units in 2024, with companies like BYD, Li Auto, and Huawei contributing to its growth. The adoption of more ADAS features is leading to increased centralization around ADAS electronic control units (ECUs) and processors.
The report highlights a shift in Chinese OEMs’ supply strategies, with a focus on sourcing semiconductor devices from Chinese companies, replacing global suppliers such as Infineon Technologies, NXP, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instrumen...
