Qorvo announced the QPA1722, a K-band power amplifier (PA) designed for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, expanding its GaN-on-SiC SATCOM portfolio. The PA operates in the 17.7–20.2 GHz frequency range, delivering 10W saturated output power and 6W linear output power, with over 1 GHz instantaneous bandwidth for high data-rate applications. It offers 36% efficiency and a 38% smaller footprint compared to competing devices.
The QPA1722 is available for sampling, with volume production scheduled for Fall 2025. Evaluation kits are provided upon request. Qorvo’s existing Ka-band ground solutions support global connectivity, with a new lineup planned for release in Summer 2025. Additional SATCOM products are listed on Qorvo’s SATCOM solutions page.
Doug Bostrom, general manager of Qorvo’s Defense and Aerospace business, noted that the QPA1722 addresses the demand for LEO constellation deployment, citing Gartner research on the potential for LEO satellites to provide broadband services.
Qorvo will showcase the QPA1722 and other products at the IMS 2025 event in San Francisco, CA, from June 16-20, 2025. Meeting scheduling is available on Qorvo’s IMS 2025 event page.
