TDK Corporation has expanded its B43645, B43657, B43658, B43659, B43660, and B43661 series of ultra-compact snap-in aluminum electrolytic capacitors, tailoring them to meet the specific needs of advanced AI server power supply units and high-performance switch-mode power supply (SMPS) applications. As part of this expansion, TDK also raised the rated DC voltage on these capacitors to 500V.
With diameters ranging from 22mm to 35mm and lengths between 25mm and 100mm, these capacitors deliver high voltage capability in a notably compact form factor. For high-performance power supplies, that translates into higher power density, improved reliability, and greater design flexibility, all important for supporting the continuous, high-load operation typical of AI data centers. This lets designers build smaller, more efficient systems without sacrificing electrical or thermal performance.
These extended-voltage capacitor series cover capacitance values from 80µF to 2060µF, handle ripple currents (the fluctuating current riding on top of steady DC) up to 5.39A, and offer a rated service life of up to 5,000 hours at +105°C. Their ultra-compact CV design, referring to the ratio of capacitance to physical volume, minimizes footprint, while a rugged aluminum-can construction with a PET protective sleeve, secure snap-in mounting pins, and a built-in pressure relief mechanism helps ensure long-term durability. All variants are RoHS-compliant and have been vibration-tested according to the IEC 60068-2-6 standard.
TDK also offers a web-based AlCap Tool that quickly and easily calculates accurate expected lifetime for these capacitors under specific application conditions.
