Murata has launched and begun mass production of its DLW32SH_MF series of common mode choke coils, compliant with the strictest DCMR Class 3 requirements of the automotive CAN FD networking standard and rated for operation at temperatures up to 150°C. Despite their compact 1210-inch (3.2mm x 2.5mm) size, the products use a metal terminal structure designed to achieve high reliability and durability. Mass production has already begun.
A common mode choke coil filters out electrical noise that appears equally on paired signal wires, and demand for this kind of noise suppression is growing as automotive networking evolves. In recent years, advances in autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have been driving a shift from conventional CAN networking, which tops out at 1Mbps, to the faster CAN FD standard, which supports higher-speed, higher-capacity communication. However, as data speeds increase, these systems become more vulnerable to electrical noise, making high-performance noise suppression components increasingly essential.
To meet this need, Murata developed the DLW32SH_MF series specifically for noise suppression on signal lines in automotive networks, including both conventional CAN and CAN FD.
The DLW32SH510MF2 model offers a common mode inductance of 51µH (with a tolerance of +50%/-30%) measured at 0.1MHz, with rated current of 125mA at 125°C, 90mA at 140°C, and 50mA at 150°C, and a maximum DC resistance of 1.5Ω.
The DLW32SH101MF2 model offers 100µH (+50%/-30%) at 0.1MHz, with rated current of 115mA at 125°C, 90mA at 140°C, and 50mA at 150°C, and a maximum DC resistance of 2.1Ω. Both models operate across a temperature range of -55°C to 150°C and comply with the AEC-Q200 automotive reliability standard.
Drawing on Murata's proprietary coil winding and ferrite core assembly techniques, combined with the newly introduced metal terminal structure, these components are designed to deliver stronger reliability and durability compared to the company's previous products.
