Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has begun mass production of its 100V integrated GaN power-stage IC family, comprising the EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111.
These monolithic ePower Stage ICs are designed for high-performance motion control applications, combining high-side and low-side GaN transistors (eGaN FETs), gate drivers, and level-shifting circuitry, which coordinates signal timing between different voltage levels, all into a single compact, thermally enhanced QFN package. The devices support up to 100V operation with current ratings of either 35A or 20A depending on the model, offering high efficiency, high power density, and a simpler overall system design compared to using discrete components. The family includes protection features such as fast fault shutdown, safe gate control during power-loss conditions, and the ability to run continuously at 100% duty cycle. Some models also offer a single-input PWM (pulse-width modulation) option, simplifying the design of multi-axis motor control systems.
Alex Lidow, CEO of EPC, said the move to volume production reflects strong market demand for integrated GaN power stages that simplify design while still delivering high performance and reliability.
To help engineers speed up development and testing, EPC is also offering four evaluation boards, the EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131, each built around one of the four new power-stage ICs and designed for three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive applications. These compact inverter platforms integrate gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, auxiliary power supplies, temperature monitoring, and protection features.
The EPC23108/09/10/11 family is now available through EPC's global distribution network, including Digi-Key and Mouser, supporting applications such as humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters, with production continuing to ramp up.
To further support engineers, EPC is also releasing a technical white paper, available in both English and Chinese, covering the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms for the new integrated GaN power-stage ICs, offering practical guidance for robotics, drone, and high-performance motor-drive applications.
On pricing, the EPC23108 and EPC23109 are priced at $3.70 each, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 are priced at $2.47 each, based on quantities of 3,000 units. The EPC91128 and EPC91129 evaluation boards are priced at $640 each, while the EPC91130 and EPC91131 boards are priced at $630 each.
