KAGA FEI has announced the development of two new Bluetooth Low Energy modules, the ES4L15MA1 and EC4L15MA1, which come with embedded software for wireless communication built in.
These new modules are versions of KAGA FEI's existing ES4L15BA1 and EC4L15BA1 wireless modules, which are built around Nordic Semiconductor's nRF54L15 chip. Because the modules already include the functionality needed for Bluetooth Low Energy communication, device manufacturers can build products faster without having to develop their own wireless communication software from scratch. This helps reduce software development workload, shorten product development timelines, and lower overall development costs for a wide range of IoT devices.
The demand for wireless connectivity in IoT applications is growing across markets including industrial equipment, home appliances, and healthcare devices. At the same time, many device manufacturers are dealing with a shortage of engineers experienced in Bluetooth software, along with longer development cycles. That combination is driving demand for modules that come with wireless communication functionality already built in and can be controlled easily by external devices using simple serial commands.
On features, the modules support simultaneous connections to up to eight Bluetooth Low Energy devices at once, making them well suited for applications that need to manage multiple connected devices efficiently, such as sensor networks or equipment monitoring systems.
They're controlled through KAGA FEI's proprietary software using serial commands, letting users configure connections, manage communication, and access various Bluetooth Low Energy functions simply by sending commands. The modules also support sending and receiving user-defined text data, enabling straightforward two-way communication between devices, which makes them a practical option for replacing wired serial connections with wireless ones.
The modules also include a built-in antenna, removing the need for manufacturers to design their own antenna, and come with Bluetooth SIG qualification along with regulatory certifications for Japan's Radio Law (MIC), the FCC in the U.S., and ISED in Canada, helping reduce the time and cost typically involved in getting a product certified.
