Renesas announced the general availability of Renesas 365, Powered by Altium, on March 11, 2026. Renesas 365 is described as the first open end-to-end electronics development platform. It operates in a unified cloud environment and combines device exploration, model-based system development, device lifecycle management, and early concept validation.

The platform addresses challenges in embedded design, such as disconnected workflows, manual component searches, and limited system-level awareness. It connects tools including embedded software files, datasheets, and application notes into a cloud-managed system. This allows engineering teams to explore architectures collaboratively, co-develop hardware and software, and make system-level design decisions with real-time insights.

The initial phase integrates over 550 variants of Renesas' RA family of Arm-based microcontrollers, along with a full suite of development tools. It includes integration with the e² studio integrated development environment (IDE), Flexible Software Package (FSP), SDKs, and the Renesas toolchain.

Model-based evaluation and optimization technology provides MCU recommendations based on overall system design context. Recommendations consider factors such as pin usage, peripherals, timing, power, and alignment with system building blocks. The company states this reduces evaluation time from hours of datasheet review to minutes, supporting faster design convergence, less rework, and reduced time to market.

Gaurang Shah, Vice President and General Manager of Embedded Processing at Renesas, stated that the general availability of Renesas 365 marks a milestone in the company's Digitalization Vision. He noted that the first phase supports early-stage development, with future phases planned to maintain hardware and software subsystem elements within the platform to enable faster and lower-cost development of software-defined products.

Key features listed include:
Model-based component and system exploration, discovery, and selection
Digital continuity across systems, hardware, and software workflows
AI-assisted guidance on design constraints, resource management, and error resolution
Over-the-air (OTA) device management for RA MCUs

The platform supports linking existing e² studio projects for immediate use and guides new projects through system-level component discovery and feasibility evaluation. It records iterations automatically, connects them to system-level elements, identifies constraints, and suggests resolutions.

Renesas 365 is an open platform that allows incorporation of third-party components, sensors, and partner tools for evaluating tradeoffs and mixed-vendor architectures. Future development phases will add support for more Renesas product families and third-party devices, with subsystem components such as peripheral configuration, power management, and software modeled as platform-maintained, compatible building blocks.

Renesas will demonstrate Renesas 365 at embedded world 2026 in Nuremberg, held March 10–12, 2026, at two locations: Hall 4, Stand 305 (dedicated to Renesas 365 with live demonstrations on integrated RA workflows, model-based system exploration, and intelligent validation) and Hall 1, Stand 234 (showcasing the broader Renesas semiconductor portfolio).

Renesas 365 is now available for new and existing RA MCU developers. More information is available at www.renesas.com/en/renesas365.
