The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) has announced four projects spanning agent capabilities, model interoperability, training environments and secure execution. Agent Skills was contributed by Anthropic, Open Responses by OpenAI, OpenEnv by Hugging Face and OpenSandbox by Alibaba. The additions bring AAIF to 10 hosted projects in its first year, up from three launch projects in December 2025.
The projects address four layers of the agentic stack: how agents gain new skills, how applications talk to models across providers, how agents are trained and evaluated, and where agents run safely. They join Agent2Agent (A2A), Agent Router, agentgateway, AGENTS.md, goose and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) under AAIF’s open, vendor-neutral governance.

Agent Skills is an open format for giving agents new capabilities and domain expertise. It packages instructions, scripts and resources in a reusable manner that agents can load on demand. Open Responses is an open specification for multi-provider, interoperable LLM interfaces based on the OpenAI Responses API; it defines a shared schema, consistent streaming events and extensible tooling so developers can describe requests and outputs once and run them across model providers with minimal translation.
OpenEnv is an open framework and community hub for creating interoperable, plug-and-play reinforcement learning (RL) environments. It uses a containerized service that exposes an agent interface, MCP and Gym, the training protocol used by training libraries.
OpenSandbox is a general-purpose sandbox platform for AI applications. Key features include multi-language SDKs; unified sandbox APIs; Docker and Kubernetes runtimes for coding agents, GUI agents, agent evaluation, AI code execution and reinforcement learning training; and a sandbox protocol defining lifecycle and execution APIs that teams can extend with custom runtimes.
Manik Surtani, CTO and co-founder of the Agentic AI Foundation, said AAIF had grown from three projects to 10 in a year, with the new contributions addressing different parts of the agentic stack. The announcement coincided with AGNTCon + MCPCon North America, taking place October 22-23 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
