Keysight Technologies, Inc. announced it assisted AMD in testing electrical compliance for PCI Express (PCIe) specifications for pre-production AMD server CPUs. Keysight provided early access to beta software, enabling AMD to develop and test a PCIe-capable server motherboard operating at up to 64 GT/s. The server was displayed at the PCI-SIG Developer’s Conference held June 11–12, 2025, in Santa Clara, California.

PCIe 6.0, the latest version of the high-speed interface, connects components in servers and computers, offering data transfer speeds of up to 256 GB/s with 16 lanes. It supports lower latency and improved energy efficiency, facilitating artificial intelligence (AI) applications and 802.3dj Ethernet communications. PCIe 6.0 performance exceeds that of PCIe 5.0, addressing requirements for servers interfacing with AI accelerator modules.
Keysight supplied AMD with its CEM test tools, including the 64 GBaud High Performance BERT, the 59 GHz UXR-Series Oscilloscope, and pre-compliance software. These tools allowed AMD to characterize, tune, and validate its server platform with pre-release beta code to meet performance specifications before official industry test tools were available.
Amit Goel, Corporate Vice President, Server Engineering at AMD, stated that Keysight’s PCIe compliance test platform and early access software enabled AMD to confirm electrical compliance up to 64 GT/s, demonstrating signal integrity and electrical robustness for upcoming AMD server CPUs.
Dr. Joachim Peerlings, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight Network and Data Center Solutions, noted that the collaboration with AMD supported validation and optimization of AMD’s platform, enabling PCIe solutions at 64 GT/s.
Keysight and AMD showcased their PCIe test setup at the PCI-SIG Developers Conference 2025, June 11–12, at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
