AMD announced that Nokia has incorporated 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors into its Nokia Cloud Platform to support next-generation telecom infrastructure. The processors are used in virtualization deployments for 5G Core, edge, and enterprise applications.
Dan McNamara, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s Server Business, stated that the 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors provide performance, scalability, and power efficiency to address the complexity of 5G networks. Kal De, senior vice president of Product and Engineering at Nokia’s Cloud and Network Services, noted that the collaboration with AMD supports Nokia’s chip partnerships for 5G infrastructure, enabling the platform to meet performance and sustainability requirements.
