"Designed in India, Sustained in India": Industry Leaders Chart the Path to Resilient Defence Supply Chains

At a recent concluded Strategic Electronics Summit industry conclave, some of India's top defence and aerospace executives delivered a candid assessment of the country's manufacturing supply chains: they are improving, but remain vulnerable to geopolitical shocks, material shortages and a chronic "discovery gap" between Indian innovators and the platforms that need them.

The session  "Building a Supply Chain for the Indian Pvt. Sector Platform Manufacturers"  was chaired by Lt Gen Sanjay Verma (Veteran), Advisor for Defence & Strategy at S K Singhi & Partners, and brought together leaders from Amphenol Interconnect India, SASMOS HET Technologies, Airbus Defence & Space, and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation.

 The supply chain as the "Achilles heel"

Opening the discussion, Lt Gen Verma compared a resilient supply chain to the human body's spinal cord, the network that carries signals from the "brain" of a defence platform to every "sensory organ."
