Qualcomm and Specs a Snap subsidiary, announced a multi-year strategic agreement to integrate Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon system-on-a-chip (SoC) into future generations of Specs. This marks the first flagship engagement for Specs Inc., which plans to launch Specs later this year. Specs are standalone, see-through glasses that integrate digital experiences into the physical world, allowing users to see, hear, and interact with digital content in their physical space.
Specs are powered by Snapdragon XR platforms. The platforms combine edge AI and high-performance, low-power compute to enable intelligent, context-aware experiences that run directly on the device.
The agreement builds on a decade-long collaboration between Snap and Qualcomm Technologies. Snapdragon platforms have powered multiple previous generations of Snap’s Spectacles. The new long-term agreement includes roadmap alignment and technical collaboration to bring capabilities such as on-device AI, cutting-edge graphics, and advanced multiuser digital experiences to the Specs platform.
The initiative establishes a scalable foundation for developers and partners building for Specs, supporting a predictable product cadence and increasingly sophisticated digital experiences.
Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc., stated that the future of computing will be more human and grounded in the real world. He noted that the work with Qualcomm Technologies provides a foundation for Specs, delivering advanced technology and performance to developers and consumers.
Cristiano Amon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Qualcomm Incorporated, said the next era of computing will involve devices that understand what users see, hear, and say, along with context, and respond instantly. He added that the collaboration on future generations of Specs will enable power-efficient interactive AR devices delivering agentic experiences that integrate seamlessly into daily life.
