Eaton announced an investment of over $30 million to expand U.S. production of medium-voltage switchgear with a new manufacturing facility in Bellevue, in the greater Omaha area of Nebraska.
The 370,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin production in the first half of 2027. It will produce air-insulated switchgear and gas-insulated switchgear for data center, utility, and industrial power generation and distribution systems. The company stated that the move addresses demand from nearly 3,000 planned or under-construction data centers in the U.S.

Eaton noted that industrial and utility companies face electrical power supply chain constraints due to this growth. The U.S. switchgear market is projected to expand from $17.8 billion in 2024 to $31.8 billion by 2034.
The new facility will support high-volume production of engineered-to-order switchgear structures. These can be integrated into Eaton’s prefabricated power systems, which are designed for flexibility, modularity, and intelligence. Existing Eaton employees in the Omaha area will transition to the new site, located six miles from the current facility.
The expansion is expected to create more than 200 engineering, manufacturing, and production jobs, with hiring anticipated to begin later in 2026.
Mike Yelton, president of Electrical Sector, Americas at Eaton, said the investment expands the U.S. manufacturing footprint and adds jobs while supporting customer projects. He mentioned the company’s approach to modular and repeatable deployment for data centers and acknowledged support from the state of Nebraska and the city of Bellevue.
Governor Jim Pillen stated that Eaton’s expansion demonstrates competitive advantages for manufacturers in Nebraska, including affordability and workforce growth. Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike described the investment as a milestone for job creation in the community.
Eaton’s global manufacturing investments have exceeded $1.5 billion since 2023. The company’s medium-voltage switchgear forms part of its grid-to-chip portfolio for data center, industrial, and utility customers.
Further company information is available at www.eaton.com. Eaton reported revenues of $27.4 billion in 2025 and operates in 180 countries.
The details are based on Eaton’s official announcement dated April 8, 2026.
